Former 49th District State Senator Don Carlson Endorses Eileen Qutub
June 18th, 2012, Vancouver, Washington – Former State Senator Don Carlson announced Tuesday his endorsement of Eileen Qutub, for State Senator representing Washington’s 49th Legislative District.
“I have met and discussed the issues important to the 49th with her. I believe she is conscientious, caring and competent. She would be a hard-working, thoughtful legislator for our district. Please help send her to Olympia to solve the challenges coming in the future."
Mr. Carlson is a retired social studies teacher from the Vancouver School System, with 31 years of experience. He served for 12 years in the State Legislature first as a Representative and then as a Senator after retiring from teaching. Mr. Carlson also served as a commissioner on the Western Interstate Commission on Higher Education, and on the board of the Washington State Council on Aging.
Families and small business owners continue to stretch their income and prioritize their needs amid economic uncertainty. Rarely do they find the opportunity to elect a member of their community with experience promoting balanced solutions.
We can no longer afford the status quo. Steady economic recovery will be achieved by removing restraints on job creation. We truly need to change the way Washington State operates. Education reform favoring students and local control requires our immediate attention.
